Genesis 33 - Jacob / Israel - Simul Justus Et Peccator

Jacob has been changed by God and God answers Jacob's prayer to be protected from Esau. Jacob demonstrates a true repentance for what he has done to Esau. But Jacob also still shows us that his sinful nature is not yet abolished. Jacob lies to Esau and settles in Shechem rather than returning to his father - which will cause Jacob's family incredible grief in the next chapter.
