Luke 17:7-10 Heart Of Christ's Servant
this Sunday, we will continue examining how we make disciples and grow as disciples. The last three weeks, we have talked about worshiping corporately and personally, and we have shown the importance of connecting in discipling relationships. This Sunday we will see how serving is essential for making disciples and growing as disciples. We will examine Luke 17:7-10 and hear how Jesus explains the heart of a servant to His disciples. Verses 7-10 will be our focus, but we will read Luke 17:1-10 to see the incredible context which leads Jesus to speak about service to the Lord. Please read Luke 17:1-10 for Sunday as we look at the heart of Christ’s servant. As servants of Christ, our highest priority is to be faithful.

Luke 1:46-55 My Soul Magnifies The Lord
As Christmas quickly approaches, we will pause our study in Acts for a few weeks in order to focus our hearts on celebrating the incarnation of our Savior. God the Son took on the nature of man and was born in the likeness of a servant so that we might be reconciled to the Triune God. This Sunday we will also be led in worship by the children as they sing praises to our God and recite Scriptures testifying to His nature. As you prepare your hearts for worship, take a moment and read Luke 1:46-55. This is the song Mary sings as her heart is filled with praise, knowing that God has given her the blessing of bearing the Messiah. Her song is often called "The Magnificat" because the first word in the Latin text is Magnifies. She says, "My soul magnifies the Lord" and then breaks into a psalm of worship, thanksgiving, and rejoicing in who God is and for what He has done. As we center our thoughts on the birth of Jesus, our hearts should magnify the Lord. We should stand in awe of the glorious salvation that the Lord has given to us. Let us prepare our hearts to come together in worship of our King this Sunday.

Luke 9:57-62 Reasons NOT To Follow Jesus
Jesus encounters three people who desire to follow Him. Each is willing to follow, but rather than encouraging them, Jesus warns them. He clarifies what it means to follow Him and makes sure they understand what following entails

Luke 2:8-20 Good News of Great Joy
God announces the good news to shepherds watching over their flocks. The good news of the gospel is that because of the birth of Christ, man can now have peace with God. This message changes the shepherds in the same way that the gospel changes hearts today

Luke 6:43-45 Examining Our Fruit
Jesus shows us the way that we examine ourselves so that we might remove the log from our eye and be able to help our brother remove his speck. The fruit we produce is the indicator of the status of our hearts. The gospel is the only solution to our problem.

Luke 6:35-43 Judge Not
Jesus continues to explain what it means to love one's enemies. He has shown us what this love does. It blesses those who curse us and prays for those who abuse us. Here Jesus shows us the kind of heart that loves enemies. It is a heart that is merciful, not condemning or hypocritical.

Luke 6:27-36 Love Your Enemies?...Seriously?
Jesus teaches believers how we are to respond to those who hate us. The context is personal persecution and mistreatment for Christ's sake. He commands that we do good, bless, and pray for those who hate and curse us. He gives examples and tells us the reason why we are to live this way as believers. It is because our God is merciful and we show the world who He is when we are merciful.

Luke 6:17-26 The "Blessed" Life (Beatitudes)
Jesus preaches the sermon on the level describing what a life in right relationship with God looks like. The "blessed" life is not what most people expect. Jesus is giving a description of what this life looks like - it is those who are poor, hungry, mournful, and hated. That is not what a "blessed" life looks like to the world.

Luke 6:12-16 The Choosing of The Twelve
Jesus, facing increasing opposition, chooses the 12 Apostles from among His disciples. He secludes Himself on a mountain and prays all night before making the choice. The choosing of the 12 is born from increasing opposition, communion with the Father, and a dependence upon His power. These are the same things that characterize the church and the Christian life.

Luke 6:1-11 Going Through The Motions (Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath)
Jesus demonstrates that empty ritual (especially man-made rituals) is not good enough to make man right with God. He seeks a heart devoted to Him which only comes through the new birth. The Pharisees object to Jesus' actions on the Sabbath, but He instructs them on the proper observance of God's commands.

Luke 5:33-39 The Incompatible Gospel
Jesus answers the Pharisees' question about ritual fasting by showing that the gospel He proclaims is incompatible with all religions that work for righteousness. Jesus didn't come to be an accessory added to the religion of men. He came to save mankind and give men new hearts. The gospel is an all or nothing proposition.

Luke 5:27-32 The Call To Follow Jesus
Jesus calls an unlikely person to be His disciple. Levi (Matthew) is a tax collector. Tax collectors were thought to be the most wicked, vile, and hated people in Israel. Yet Jesus extends the call to this sinner. The call is to follow Jesus and Levi leaves all to do so. This is the same call made to us today.

Luke 5:17-26 Desperately Dependent On Jesus

Luke 5:12-16 Jesus Cleanses The Defiled
A man full of leprosy desires Jesus to make him clean. The leper is unclean and shut out of the presence of God in the Temple, and the community of God. He must yell, "unclean, unclean" to warn those who come near. His uncleanness defiles everything he touches, but when Jesus touches him...
